報告簡介:
Temporality refers to the ways time is conceptualized and experienced in society. While time can be conceptualized objectively based on the clock, it can take on varied understandings, imaginations, and experiences at both the individual and the collective level. western concepts of time have deeply shaped theories of writing, writing development, and writing pedagogy in the Global North. There has been little research on how temporalities manifest in and shape the teaching of English writing in the Global South. This talk addresses two questions: How are temporalities vertically and horizontally enacted by discourses/documents (i.e. EFL writing policies, program structures, curricula, syllabuses, materials, and assessment practices) of higher education institutions in China?
How do teachers and program administrators understand, experience, negotiate, and appropriate the temporal orders (norms, standards, and influences) in relation to English writing education in their institutions?
