Dr Ibrar Bhatt is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the School of Social Sciences, Education & Social Work at Queen’s University Belfast (UK) where he was also the Director of the Master’s in TESOL between 2018-2021. His research interests encompass applied linguistics, higher education, and digital humanities. His most recent book, titled ‘A Semiotics of Muslimness in China’, is with Cambridge University Press, and some other recent work of Ibrar’s include The Epistemology of Deceit (an edited volume), Academics Writing: The Dynamics of Knowledge Creation (co-authored); Assignments as Controversies: Digital Literacy & Writing in Classroom Practice (sole-authored), as well as many published research articles on similar subjects. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Society for Research into Higher Education, and convened its Digital University Network between 2015-2022. He is also Executive Editor for the journal Teaching in Higher Education: Critical Perspectives, and on the Editorial Board for the journal Postdigital Science & Education.
